I was super lucky to get to try OPI’s upcoming summer 2016 collection called OPI Retro Summer. It contains six beautiful polishes, all with a retro vibe to them. After swatching them all, I must say my favorite is the darker orange/coral shade called SPF XXX. I actually thought I would like that one the least since I usually don’t like orange polishes, but this one was more coral and I think it will look gorgeous in the summer with a tan!
To begin with we have Sailing & Nailing, a light blue creme polish which is opaque in three coats. I love this shade of blue and I think the collection wouldn’t be complete without it. I’m really into blue polishes at the moment and I think this one will be well-used this summer!
Next up is Towel me About it, a light yellow creme polish which is opaque in three coats. This one is super cute but unfortunately I always get Easter vibes from yellow polishes. However, I really like this yellow shade and I think it will look more summery if it’s paired with a cute summer outfit.
This one is called I’m Getting a Tan-gerine and it is a very unique light orange creme polish which is opaque in three coats. I have no similar polish in my stash and this shade has really grown on me. At first I thought it was a very strange shade but after trying it on, I love it! It definitely goes with the retro theme and the color is gorgeous!
Next up is my favorite! It is called SPF XXX and is a creme polish which is opaque in three coats (you could get away with two coats if you’re not as picky as I am). The shade is a darker orange with coral tones and it is absolutely gorgeous! I think this one would look really nice on darker skin tones as well.
Here we have What’s the Double Scoop? This is a light pink creme polish which is opaque in three coats. The shade is really cute but I’ve got some very similar shades in my nail polish stash so I’m not overly excited about it. However, it goes really well with the other shades in this collection and it is definitely a polish that is perfect for summer!
Next up is Flip Flops & Crop Tops which is a darker pink shade which is opaque in three coats. I love the name of this polish, it really makes me longing for summer! As with the lighter pink above, I’ve got some very similar polishes in my stash – but you can’t have too many pink polishes right?
I’ve also made a couple of nail art designs in the retro style to show you how well these polishes go together. In this one I made a color block design using Sailing & Nailing, Towel me About it and What’s the Double Scoop? For making the triangle and the lines I used regular striping tape.
Last but not least I made this super retro design using Flip Flops & Crop Tops, SPF XXX and I’m Getting a Tan-gerine. For the pattern I used nail vinyls from What’s Up Nails.
The OPI Retro Summer collection will be in stores in the end of May and the price will be 155 SEK.
Disclaimer: This review is based on my honest opinion. I have not been asked to do it and I am not getting paid for it. I received the polishes as a PR sample.
