IsaDora Gel Nail Lacquer Autumn/Winter 2015 Collection review

In week 39 IsaDora will launch some new gel nail lacquers.  These polishes don’t need a lamp to cure, just sunlight or light from a normal lamp. They get the gel-like finish when applying the gel nail lacquer top coat. I think IsaDora did a great job choosing colors for this collection. It has a nice mix of lighter and darker polishes, seven cremes and one shimmer. They have lovely formulas and are super easy to apply and get even. In my swatches I haven’t used any top coat, just so that you can get a better sense of  the finishes of the polishes.

To start off with we have this dark red polish called Dark Temptation.  It is opaque in two coats and is a must have for winter! Here I paired it with Berry Baroque and made a chevron design.

Another must have for winter is this one called Purple Passion.  It’s a very dark purple shade that is opaque in two coats. Together with the nail polishes, IsaDora is selling matching bracelet. I love the idea!

Next is one of my absolute favorites from the collection, Berry Baroque. This one will look amazing for autumn! It’s a burgundy shade, somewhere between a dark pink and a red. Two coats are enough for full coverage.

I was so happy to find this grey polish called Turtledove in the collection! It’s the first one I’ve seen from IsaDora without shimmer. I think it’s a perfect grey shade and it covers well in two coats. Here I did a French manicure using Turtledove and Dark Temptation.

This is Red Spell, a really nice red polish. Nothing special, but a shade that everyone needs in their nail polish stash. Two coats give full coverage.

I was actually surprised to find this polish called Lovely Lilac in the collection. For me, this is more of a spring and summer shade. However, it’s a very nice light lavender polish which is opaque in two coats. Here I paired it with Purple Passion.

I’m usually not a big fan of orange polish but this one called Hot Chili is amazing! It has golden shimmer in it and I think it would look even better on someone with a darker skin tone than mine. The only downside is that it needs three coats to be somewhat opaque. Even after three coats it was a little sheer.

Last but not least is this interesting shade called Liquorice. I can’t really put my finger on which color it is. It is some kind of mix between a dark grey, black and a dark blue. The finish of this polish is not as shiny as the others. It is not completely matte either but somewhere in between. In this mani I paired Liquorice with Turtledove on my accent nail. The stamping plate I used is from www.bornprettystore.com.

Hope you like this collection as much as I do! It will be in stores in week 39 and the polishes cost 89 kr each.

Multicolored gradient

Nails, Tutorials

What’s better than a gradient when you want colorful nails?! It is not very hard once you get the hang of it and you can use any colors you like to get endless variation. For this gradient I used four different polishes from IsaDora:  504 Sunray (Yellow), 514 Summer Flirt (purple), 508 Shell Pink (orange/pink) and 509 Pink Pulse (pink). I applied all polishes onto a make-up sponge and dabbed it over my nails several times. I used a white base to make the colors stand out more.

To make the clean-up a little easier I used a peel off thingy from Color4nails called Crystalline Nail Veil. There are many similar products out there. Other ones I’ve tried and like is Peel Off Base from IsaDora and Glitter Off from OPI. The best thing about Crystalline Nail Veil is that is has a very thin brush compared to the others. It makes it easier to get close to your cuticles and you can even get creative and use it on your nails to make patterns.

Take a look at the tutorial below to see how I made this multicolored gradient.

IsaDora Rock & Romance Collection review

19 augusti 2015 av nailsbyic
Nails, Reviews

IsaDora recently launched their 2015 autumn make-up collection called Rock & Romance. There are three polishes in the collection, one  mossy green with lots of shimmer, one burgundy shade and one dark purple polish.  To be honest,  I wasn’t overly excited when I first got these polishes. It was mid June back then and summer hadn’t even started. However I can definitely see myself wearing these when the weather is cooling.

From left to right: 517 Urban Green, 518 Bohemian Rose and 519 Dark Romance

My favorite of the three is 518 Bohemian Rose. The formula is great, two coats are enough for full coverage. It’s a creme polish and super easy to apply. Below I used 518 Bohemian Rose as a base and stamped 519 Dark Romance on top. I love the velvet effect it created!

517 Urban Green surprised me as I swatched it! I don’t tend to use green polishes very much, but I think this one will look really nice for autumn and winter. It’s a gorgeous dark green/gray shade packed with shimmer. I applied two coats for full coverage.

The last polish in this collection is 519 Dark Romance. It’s a dark purple creme polish which is opaque in two coats. Below I paired it with 518 Bohemian Rose. These two polishes go really well together!

519 Dark Romance an 518 Bohemian Rose

To sum it up, IsaDora’s Rock & Romance collection contains three beautiful polishes with great formulas. I’ll probably wear 518 Bohemian Rose the most since it’s the lightest polish of the three and I find it easiest to wear. However, as we go into the darker seasons I’ll probably wear Dark Romance and Urban Green as much.

You can find the collection in stores now and the polishes cost 79 kr each.
